Sternwarte Bochum

The infinite expanse of the universe has always held a fascination for us humans.

The Bochum Observatory brings it just a bit closer. Founded by Prof. Heinz Kaminski in 1946, the Observatory has sophisticated antenna systems which capture signals from orbiting and geostationary satellites. Particularly worth a visit is the exhibition which shows satellite pictures of the earth in the framework of a UN awardwinning short film. See too how the Bochum ground station receives high-resolution images of the earth.
