This is where railway history comes alive: On the site of the one-time railway maintenance shop at Bochum-Dahlhausen is the Germany’s largest private railway museums.

Experience the history of the railways in accessible form! More than 120 trains dating from 1853 to the present day are presented  – and some of these historic treasures are still in working order.

The centrepiece of the railway system which is preserved here as an historic monument is the 20-meter turntable with circular engine sheds. The water tower, water crane and coaling system have been kept in functioning condition. Let yourself be taken back to times past and admire these large locomotives.

Walking round the exhibition you will get an overview of the development of the railways and experience lots of interesting facts about the way in which these steam giants worked. Special displays, travelling with the driver on his stand, special trips and shuttle rides round off our exhibition and ensure that you have a fun and varied experience.
